Among Malcolm’s many (non) – career moves were time spent as a civil servant, student nurse, accounts manager, gallery and museums assistant, caretaker / steward and, as a ‘mature’ student at Hull University, where he studied Theology. He also spent a study year at the Urban Theology Unit in Sheffield.
His many years of social / political activism have now been replaced by an armchair variation albeit of a similar left-wing persuasion. A taste for wine has long since replaced experimentation with more exotic substances.
In Holy Week of 1999 he met Helen and, they were married in February of the following year – the most significant event of his life!
Malcolm has suffered from moderate M.E. since 2003. Although appreciating some prolonged periods of remission, thanks to “pacing” (and the help received from Julie at HDH Chronic Fatigue Unit and, the acupuncture treatment provided by my physio Helen A.), still prone to sudden crashes (post-exertional malaise / fatigue).
