The Visitor

After getting somewhat stressed, about the earlier outbreak of customer dis-service, things had to take a turn for the better. Having assembled the bed, midst deluging flows of perspiration, a change of scene was definitely called for. Cafe Culture was the port of call for my beloved and myself to enjoy a pot (each) of Green Rooibus Citrus and a cheese scone; it’s such a relaxing environment, even when observing the downpour of rain outside.

A leisurely evening followed catching up on an episode of ‘New Tricks’, recorded earlier in the week, and then watching part of the Promenade Concert, a performance of the Symphonie Fantastique by Daniel Barenboim’s West-Eastern Divan Orchestra (BBC4). I then headed for the kitchen’s stable door to inhale a quick nicotine fix; after a few moments I became aware of a moving shadow heading down the lawn. As it grew closer, I was delighted to note that the recent demise of Spike hadn’t deterred others of his kind from honouring us with a visit. As he sauntered through the longer grass, at the lawns edge, it was only a matter of time before we were greeted by the happy schnuffling sound of a feast being devoured. Odds on the hedgehog had discovered the remaining food pellets on the birds ground feeder, hopefully topped off with a few garden pests!

This hog was a little larger than the late lamented Spike, plenty of advance preparation for his autumn & winter retreat. Perhaps our hedgehog house, or some of the twig / foliage heaps will be utilized once again this year!

Awww! We had a big hedgehog visit us last year. Earlier this year, I heard one snuffling around outside my window. They love coming right up to the wall and making their noises, don\’t they;-)You bought a new bed? Oh, hope you have some comfort from it. Mum just bought me one and it\’s so snuggly. I love a good bed where you just feel like you\’re floating on air. Oh, that reminds me. 23 feet! Don\’t worry – thinkin\’ out loud again! Mum wants 23ft of phone cable so she can get on the internet! I\’ll scribble a note somewhere now… Happy zeds!
