Sometimes, the simplest, most commonplace event, can really demonstrate all that is positive and joyful. This morning as I lay in bed, ma belle amoureuse, having just returned from morning worship, came and lay beside me. As I clasped her hand in mine it became one of those “all shall be well” moments; no matter how groggily negative many preceding days had been, the simple act of touching had, in this instance, such therapeutic qualities that all those excruciating aches and pains one’s flesh is heir to seemed of little consequence. This moment was joy, a pure sense of sharing and caring, a sense of really being alive.
The most remarkable aspect of the day, is my present, all too rare, sensation of feeling fully awake; remarkable in relation to preceding nights sleep of 12 to 14 hours, supplemented by a further few hours of intermittent daytime slumber and drowsiness. Food tastes better, the sound made by music is enhanced, and the warm glow of feeling most positively human makes this a day to rejoice in.
This is the day the Lord has made, I rejoice and am glad in it.
